🔗 Share this article The Battle Royale's Specialized Traversal Techniques Become Widely Accessible This Season The game developers has a special treat prepared for Apex Legends players, arriving just in time for the holidays. Enthusiasts of this game's highly fluid movement can rejoice to discover that a new movement mechanic will be introduced when the Amped season goes live on November 4th. Unveiling The Mantle Boost Named "Mantle Boosting" by Respawn, this feature provides gamers a burst of propulsion when climbing over obstacles. As explained key developer Eric Canavese, this technique was previously been a feature of Apex Legends for quite a while, often called as "mantle jumping." But it's challenging for casual gamers, and is mainly used by competitive players in Ranked Mode or esports competitions. This season, the team simplifies the process for players of all skill levels to execute these advanced movement boosts. "Mantle Boosts existed in the game for some time, but executing it isn't easy to perform and gamers might not realize it's possible without outside knowledge," the designer states. "Now including a visual cue so players can easily see when and how to activate the fast-paced movement ability, opening up the feature and adding fresh strategies to compete for more players." Why Make It Accessible Why make a previously obscure movement quirk available to everyone? Lead Legend designer the development lead says developers wants gamers to feel powerful — including ones who are inexperienced. "[The playerbase] is doing advanced techniques like super-glides and tap-strafing, and we examined at our competition, observed what our players are doing, and we said, 'How can we provide some of this power to more players?'" the designer clarifies. "Since currently, some of these techniques are kind of janky to access — it requires to remap your keybinds and execute within one-frame windows. We proposed, 'How about we create a polished version?'" Season 27 Emphasis on Mobility Mobility is largely the central theme in Season 27, with Legends the gravity mage, Rampart, and Valkyrie all getting buffs to maintain them in motion. Recovery time on Horizon's Gravity Lift is shorter, and the Gravity Lift will boost users upward much quicker than it used to. Her defensive walls now include overhead protection and the ability to provide movement bonuses to allies in range. But the spotlight is on aerial this Legend receiving the most attention this season, with various adjustments applied to make her more potent, quicker, and more lethal. "I think many agree that Valkyrie's time is here," says character developer the designer. "There's no doubt she was top-tier previously, but with the introduction of other characters, mobility perks, and Evac Towers, it seemed like she's not very relevant in current the game. This presented an ideal chance for us to reexamine a bunch of aspects in her abilities and essentially restore her to her glory days." Valkyrie's Upgrades To restore her competitive status in current strategies, Holstead says Respawn assessed each of her abilities and introduced significant modifications. Her VTOL Jets received improvements, increasing her speed while airborne, and this equipment now recharge much quicker, enabling the player to spend more time aloft. Now she won't be harmed from her own Missile Swarm, which has also been upgraded to mark opponents who take damage from the missiles. Her Skyward Dive skill — which lifts her entire squad into the air for redeployment or retreat — now takes much less time to activate. Additionally, she gains some new Legend Upgrades that players can select to reduce fuel consumption, expand the spread of her rockets, or further speed up her ultimate takeoff time. "Valkyrie's equipment fulfills the pilot experience," he says. Map Changes Additionally, the only floating arena, this location, is getting a mobility-focused facelift, with major changes that expands bottlenecks and makes securing elevated positions more manageable. The developers says the game Season 27 focuses on providing gamers the tools required to compete in the competition. "Really, we were looking at Apex's core identity as a movement shooter," explains lead Legend designer the lead. The battle royale Season 27: Amped releases Nov. 4 at the specified times.
